Last week, we celebrated The Resources Cupboard's 5-year anniversary and the incredible milestone they have reached. This week, we're taking a deeper look at the vital work they do to support churches and communities.

Visiting Church books: 3,000 Copies Shared
We're delighted to celebrate an amazing milestone – over 3,000 copies of Visiting Church have now been sold or given away! Thank you to everyone who has supported and shared this valuable resource.
As demand has grown, so too have the costs of producing it. Because of rising printing costs, the price of Visiting Church will increase to 40p per copy.
Good news! You still have until the end of this month to purchase copies at the current price of 30p per copy, so if you'd like to stock up, now is the perfect time.
Thank you once again for helping us reach this fantastic milestone. We look forward to seeing Visiting Church continue to reach even more people.
An update from The Resources Cupboard below: On the evening of Wednesday 15th July, we were celebrating! No, I don’t mean the world cup semi final match (the least said about that, the better!) Before the football match even began, we were celebrating, marking the fifth birthday of The Resources Cupboard and a year since we merged to become part of Rural Missions. An evening begun with create your own mocktails, and completed with s’mores celebrated much of the work that God has given us over the last five years with worship led by a specially-formed youth band, aged 10-14, prayers for the work of rural missions and for all gathered, and the sharing of some of our favourite stories.
This has been a great time for us to take the opportunity to look back with thanksgiving for all that God has done, for all those little moments along the way that mean so much, and to look forward in prayer to all that God is calling us into. Our calling and vision remains to support the local church to make young disciples. We believe that God calls us, the church, to all play our part in his mission; sharing the good news of Jesus with all people. For us, our call is to those often smaller, rural churches providing resources, encouragement, training and often just building confidence to have a go and get involved. In recent months this has involved us in helping to set up ‘hot choc stops’ (over the heatwave summer weeks, these have become ice-pop stops) providing a safe space in churchyards for young people to gather on the way home from school, meet those from the church community and begin to form meaningful, safe relationships where faith and life issues can be discussed. Opportunities continue to exist for churches to support their local schools and we have been doing this in many ways from supporting school assembly visits, nativity workshops and our ‘visiting church’ booklets created as an affordable, high quality resource for churches to engage children on a church visit. Our lending library has enabled churches to access resources even when their own budget may not allow and explore new approaches. We have also been on the road, up and down the country speaking at a number of events, training volunteers and raising awareness of the particular joys and challenges of the rural church in the uk.
