New Wine Leadership Conference

Two weeks ago, Rural Missions had the privilege of exhibiting at the New Wine Leadership Conference, an inspiring gathering of church leaders from across the country. As people flowed through the conference space, stopping by our stand, what unfolded was more than conversations; it was a glimpse into the heart of the church in this season.

What struck me most was not just the hope and visions of flourishing communities these leaders have for their churches, but the profound honesty shared by those who carry the weight of ministry. Time and again, leaders spoke with courage, voices uncertain of what the future holds yet steady, naming their longing for renewal. To witness such vulnerability was to glimpse the holy ground where transformation begins.

A particular conversation with one vicar is still stirring in my heart, this vicar approached slowly and stood quietly, the ache of weariness etched into their eyes. "Our church feels fragile," they confessed. "Yet I know there's more we're called to. We just don't know where to start." In that moment, I was reminded why Rural Missions exists, to come alongside churches just like this one, offering encouragement, practical help, and a vision for mission that sees communities transformed. In those words, I saw both the ache and the spark, the place where God’s mercy meets our limits, and something new begins to grow.

Behind every question asked and every story shared was an unwavering love for their communities, the faithful few who gather week by week, the unseen neighbours who long for belonging, the hidden beauty of rural life waiting to be unearthed. These leaders longed not for mere survival but for their churches to become beacons of grace.

As I packed away our stand and started the long drive home, my heart was brimming. The weight of all those conversations rested on my heart, a burden not of heaviness but of hope and a renewed desire to serve and support those who need a helping hand. The harvest is indeed plentiful, even in the smallest and most hidden places. And as these leaders step forward, fragile yet full of hope, we stand ready to journey alongside them.

If you are a rural church leader longing to see your community encounter the love of Jesus, know that you are not alone. Your story matters. The seeds of mission are already within you, waiting to bloom. We'd love to listen, dream, and walk with you. Get in touch, and let's journey together.
