Introducing Becky
It’s hard to believe it’s already been one whole month since we joined the Rural Missions family! And what a month it has been! I want to thank all of you for the very warm welcome you have given Beks and I (two Rebecca’s; that’s not at all confusing is it?) since we merged The Resources Cupboard with Rural Missions, bringing our experience in supporting local churches in their work with children, young people and families together with a wider network of support for rural churches seeking to better engage with mission in their community.
So let me introduce myself! I am married to Adam and we have two children and a growing menagerie of pets. We live in a beautiful old cottage in a tiny village in Bedfordshire, only eight doors down from the house I lived in as a newborn baby! (I have lived slightly further afield in-between) and really appreciate what it is to live in a small rural community with all the joys and challenges that can bring.
I have always worked with children, young people and families in a range of roles from primary school teacher to freelance resource writer. I also have a long history of working missionally with children, young people and families which began by looking up to my parents and grandparents; (both my grandmothers were Sunday school teachers). My parents were long-involved in midweek outreach groups and encouraged me to get involved, before finding my own ways to serve and lead.
I completed my MA in Theology specialising in children’s, youth and family ministry at St Padarn’s, Llandaff which was truly life-changing, and now, together with my role at Rural Missions, I am children’s and families tutor at Ridley Hall, Cambridge.
I am really excited to be joining Rural Missions, and bringing the work we have been developing at The Resources Cupboard into the fold. We have had a real sense of God’s hand at work in this move, and of his leading us to this point. I am looking forward to seeing what opportunities he provides for us to step into, and would love to work with you to explore the opportunities before you to reach and serve children, young people and families in your community.
