Evangelism Network

Rural Evangelism Network Conference

"A really good time!  A day of encouragement".  So wrote one of those who attended the recent conference on June 3rd.

The evaluation forms for this event were generally among the most positive of any for any conference I have been involved in. Over the next few days it is our intention to put on the website some notes from this event.  As they appear thjere will be links from this page.

Ian Macnair got us off to an excellent start with a short theological reflection based on the words of Jesus in John 20: "As the Father sent me, so I send you".  This was followed by a talk on contemporary rural culture and rural spirituality.

Five different focus groups were repeated through the morning and part of the afternoon providing everyone with the opportunity to attend two or even three of their chosen subject.  We looked at evangelizing men, farmers and children in rural areas, looked at rural church planting, and meal based evangelism

The final session of the day was an interactive session on Fresh Expressions of Church in rural areas.  Graham Wise then took us to the final chapter of John's Gospel with the focus on discovering God's presence and being prepared to do what we already know well - but differently.

We were well looked after by the staff at the IMC in Selly Oak, Birmingham, with about one third of our attenders gaining the benefits of an overnight stay the day before the Conference.
